Published in 1896 by Powers, Brothers, and Curtis, "The Royal Scroll" is a collection of historical and religious significance, illustrating key events and locations from biblical times. The included maps of Palestine provide a geographical context that complements the illuminated narratives. This book was given to David Barr Shobbin (1873-1922) by his grandparents, Levi and Sarah Shobbin (1821-1892), adding a layer of personal and historical value to the item.

This lot features "The Royal Scroll," an illuminated book that includes detailed maps of Palestine. The book measures approximately 12 inches by 16 inches and is beautifully illustrated with vibrant, historical imagery. Inside the book, there are two maps of Palestine, one titled "Topographical Palestine" and the other a map of the "Holy Land," both showcasing intricate details and color-coding typical of late 19th-century cartography. Book identification is high, map identification is high, and period relevance is high.

Condition

The book and maps are in fair condition, with some signs of wear and age. The covers show minor scuffing and discoloration, while the pages and maps have some creases and small tears but remain largely intact and legible. The vibrant illustrations and detailed maps are still striking despite the age-related wear.
