This is an ancient Luristan bronze ceremonial adze head with a bird-shaped finial. The bird, possibly a falcon or eagle, is perched on top of the axe’s circular head. This form of decorative bronze work is often associated with ritual or ceremonial objects from ancient cultures. The handle is elongated and slightly curved, and the patina on the bronze suggests considerable age.
