John Mecray (1938 - 2017) oil and acrylic on canvas. Coronet signed lower right: John Mecray 1980 and titled on frame.
Measures: 22" x 35 1/2" sight 28" x 41" overall.
Being inspired by a 1980 article in Wooden Boat magazine featuring the schooner Coronet Mecray set out to restore the vessel to her original glory. To support these efforts he painted three oils and a set of limited edition prints of which he donated most of the sale proceeds. Due in largely to Mecray's efforts the Coronet has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and has been called America's Most Historic Yacht. A full-scale restoration of the Coronet began in 2008 at the Newport campus of IYRS (International Yacht Restoration School) School of Technology & Trades.

The cost of shipment will be Buyer's full responsibility. In-house packaging and shipping is available for many items. All quotes are based upon the size and weight of the package as indicated by the carrier and all will include insurance as well as signature confirmation in most cases and will be handled through USPS or FedEx. International shipments will be made through USPS, FedEx, or DHL. Shipments will be insured and declared for the full purchase value (hammer plus premium). International buyers are solely responsible for any duties, taxes, clearance fees or any other fees imposed by their country for the import of their goods. Buyers, both domestic and international are welcome to employ their own packaging and shipping company at their sole discretion and understand that Associated Estate bears no responsibility for the acts or omissions of carriers or packers engaged by the buyer whether or not such shipper was listed by the Company.
